It’s completely normal to have new-mom fears as you embark on the journey of parenthood. A common fear is not having an immediate connection with your baby, which can take time to develop. “Moms need to give themselves grace,” said Suzy Lipinski, M.D., a board-certified OBGYN at Obstetrix® of Colorado, part of Pediatrix® Medical Group. “You can’t be a great mom if you aren’t taking care of yourself first.” Another is not knowing why your baby is crying. “When hormones are surging and you haven’t had sleep, the crying can seem overwhelming,” said Dr. Lipinski. “It’s hard to understand that some babies just cry more than others—and a crying baby doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom.”
